| One of our ABB artists, Carmin Karasic, was invited to
speak at the Ars Electronica 2005 Conference Ars Electronica
2005, 1 - 6 September 2005, Linz, Austria
Carmin Karasic, a professor of New Media in the Photography
department at The Art Institute of Boston and recent graduate
from the MFA in Visual Arts program, was recently honored with
an invitation to participate on a panel at this year's Ars
Electronica Festival 2005 in Linz, Austria.
Along with several fellow artsists and new media experts,
Karasic presented on a panel called Hybrid: Living in Paradox
Ars Electronica Symposium on September 2-3.
Karasic was invited to appear at the event, one she calls
the “most important electronic arts conference in the world,”
after the director of this year’s festival became familiar
with her work when a colleague used some of Karasic’s pieces
in a presentation on women artists.
Karasic has long been a working artist and web developer in
the new media realm, not only teaching at AIB but also serving
as assistant director at Boston Cyberarts, Inc., a nonprofit
arts organization dedicated to the digital arts.
Ars Electronica began in 1979 and has established itself as
one of the leading international forums dedicated to examining
the sociocultural impact of the “digital revolution.”
